CAPEA members come from a diverse range of backgrounds across Australia, including but not limited to: midwives, child and family health nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, independent educators, doulas, social workers, psychologists, yoga, calmbirth® and hypnobirth practitioners and general practitioners.
Any individual who is a Childbirth and/or Parenting Educator, or has a distinct interest in Childbirth and Parenting Education, may become a Member of the Association. Membership provides you with full voting rights and the potential to hold a position on a CAPEA Branch or National Committee.

You can join CAPEA online by purchasing a membership. The process is easy, simply select your membership type, complete the details and make payment. Your membership benefits will be effective immediately and you will have access to the members area of the website.
Membership lasts 12 months from the day you purchase it.
You can check on the expiry date of your membership at any time in your member account.
You will receive an email reminder for your membership renewal as your renewal date approaches. Please also be sure to update your email preferences in your account settings.
Membership payments are processed securely online through PayPal when you purchase your membership.

You can enjoy member discounts to any applicable items immediately after joining. You will be provided a login to the website to access the members area.
All CAPEA members must agree to uphold the CAPEA values.
Any CAPEA state or national position holder must sign the CAPEA Confidentiality Agreement.
Members enjoy access to members only content such as:

- discounts on available training and events
- CAPEA member lists
- CAPEA Committee reports
Individual members have access to any member discounts and each receive a hard copy of the IJBPE as well as being given access to the electronic version via the members’ only area.
Organisations may nominate one representative to receive a member discount, but will require a discount code. The organisation will receive one hard copy of the IJBPE; access to the electronic version will be limited to one log-in.
Individual membership provides full voting rights and the potential to hold a position, subject to meeting CAPEA responsibilities – see above.
Organisational membership allows one nominated and approved representative to have voting rights, providing this representative meets CAPEA membership responsibilities – see above. It does not provide the potential to hold a position.
As a not-for-profit, voluntary, professional organisation member fees go toward supporting parenting and childbirth educators to provide high-quality, accessible and responsive education to women and their families during pregnancy and early parenthood. This objective is achieved through a variety of forms from educational events to promotion of quality standards and evidence-based research.
