'CAPEA QLD Symposium on Birth and Parenting education'

The “CAPEA QLD Symposium on Birth and Parenting Education” is a one-day event for midwives and other health professionals involved in educating women and their families. 2024 Group Skills Facilitation Training for Antenatal & Early Parenting Facilitators

The two-day Group Skills Facilitation Training is an interactive workshop which provides baseline training for Midwives, Child and Family Health Nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers, Physiotherapists and Independent Childbirth Facilitators who are providing antenatal and early parenting education to
women, partners and families.

Paula Dillon will be presenting: Addressing unexpected outcomes in Childbirth Education class at the CAPEA QLD Symposium.

Paula is an Executive Volunteer and Queensland Educator for Still Aware. She is also a facilitator for the PSANZ/Stillbirth CRE IMPROVE Workshops, which provides education for health care professionals on how to use the PSANZ Perinatal

Mortality Guidelines.

The session has three aims: To help attendees present the myriad of unexpected outcomes in a positive, practical, and engaging way; To help attendees understand their role and responsibilities in preparing expectant parents for the lifechanging event that is childbirth; and to provide attendees with resources and suggestions for introducing and discussing unexpected outcomes in antenatal classes.

Melissa Redsell OAM will be presenting: Engaging and interactive childbirth education Classes at the CAPEA QLD Symposium.

Melissa Redsell OAM is a registered Nurse and Midwife with over 25 years’ experience in these fields. Melissa is also the founder and CEO of A Brave Life, a Queensland-based charity that equips and empowers vulnerable mothers who are facing a broad range of challenges such as domestic violence, perinatal mental health, homelessness, poverty, and domestic violence.

The session will explore a range of evidence-based teaching strategies that can be used in the design of ANE to increase engagement, promote fun, and quality life-long learning.
